Just because I have been gone, doesn’t mean we aren’t still ahead of the curve…

This past week the whole bigMETHOD west coast office flew to Boston to enjoy in the festivities for a holiday party on the east coast.

While in town I went to visit my grandparents. I hadn’t seen them for over a year, maybe even two, so we had plenty of things to catchup on, including what I now do: bigMETHOD. They are incredibly smart people, but social media is a few generations beyond what has effected their lives.

When I was headed back to Los Angeles my Grandfather sent me the below article that he had read in The Wall Street Journal.

The Secrets of Marketing in a Web 2.0 World

He got it, but it was interesting to see this correlate to the current passing of the torch happening in journalism.

This incredibly smart man had a tough time understanding what we do because of a cultural gap and experience within the space. He is long retired, so there is no need to know about the social web, but he enjoys the education.

At the same time, The Wall Street Journal is publishing an article 2 years too late to be cutting edge within their field - journalism. We have been hearing about traditional juggernauts in the publishing industry closing shop because of decreasing revenue.

It can be tough letting go and ‘retiring’ sometimes, but evolution is progress.
