It’s a Google Week in a Google World

Even in this fast paced world (wide web) it’s mind-blowing sometimes what can happen over the course of just a few days.

I was traveling throughout the weekend - first having the honor of helping put together a legendary night of music with Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen, and then spending quality time discussing all the complications of franchise communications with the fine folks from LA Boxing.

Upon coming back I finally got a chance to hit the news reader and got confronted with an interesting reality - Google is pretty much taking over everything.  A quick rundown on the highlights from just a few days of social media news, all brought to you by Mashable:

And then today, TIME magazine goes ahead and names the Droid, built on Google’s Android platform, the Gadget of the Year.

There’s no way to describe this other than “complete and utter domination of the marketplace.”  Seriously though, I chose to by the HTC Hero, as I’ve told a number of people, because in the long-term battle between Google and Apple I’m betting on the Googlehorse.

Even if you substitute “between Google and Apple” with “between Google and ______,” after a week like this I’m feeling good about that bet.
